The Castle Fish Bar chip shop in Talgarth has won the silver award for Best Takeaways in Wales at the 2015 British Takeaway Awards.

After making the top five takeaways in Wales, manager of the Castle Fish Bar, Raymond Parkinson, was invited to the British Takeaway Awards ceremony hosted by Vernon Kay and his wife Tess Daly at the Savoy Hotel, London. The event sponsored by Just Eat showcases the best quality takeaway food right across Britain.

The Castle Fish Bar came second in Wales winning the Silver Award, and was pipped to the post by the Wiwo Noodle Bar in Cardiff.

Just Eat CEO David Buttress said: "The Castle Fish Bar should be incredibly proud of themselves for this award. They were up against some stiff competition from takeaways across Wales’ largest cities such as Cardiff and Swansea, so for a takeaway in such a rural location such as Talgarth to perform so well in our mystery shopper tests really is a testament to the quality of the products that they sell there."

Castle Fish Bar manager Raymond said: "It is great to be nominated for any award but especially for one which is held with such high esteem in the takeaway world. This award recognises not only the quality of product at The Castle Fish Bar but also and perhaps more importantly recognises the whole team at the Castle Fish Bar who put a tremendous amount of work in, week in week out, in to making us one of the best fish and chip shops in the country. We really couldn’t have done this without all the team and I would like to thank them all for their hard work and commitment."
