AN annual speed shearing event held at Llandrindod Wells Rugby Club has raised £2,100 for the Bracken Trust.

The speed shear, organised by the Penybont Speed Shearers Committee, took place back in the summer over the weekend of the August bank holiday.

More than 40 speed shearers took part. The speed shearers returned to Llandrindod Wells Rugby Club recently to watch Tom Hughes present a cheque for the proceeds to Reg Cawthorne, chairman of the Bracken Trust.

A cheque for £200 was also presented to Mr Cawthorne by rugby club chairman Geraint Edwards. The £200 was raised from sales of the ruby club’s cheeky calendar for 2018, featuring members of the rugby club in revealing and amusing poses.

Also present were other rugby club members and Wilna Evans who took the photographs for the calendar.
