Last Tuesday, 6 February saw a special gathering of well over 50 guests at Talgarth Town Hall - all in the cause of good fellowship and to mark the first birthday of the newly launched Tuesday Lunch Club.

Some had doubted if the previously popular Talgarth Luncheon Club would ever meet again post Covid. However, a new team of volunteers started planning this in the Autumn of 2022, under the leadership of Helen Colbert and Anna Weston. Then, proving the doubters wrong, the first Tuesday Lunch Club met on Tuesday 7th February 2023, exactly a year ago.

Speaking after the event, founding organiser Helen Colbert commented: “Thank you to the many volunteers who have fully embraced Tuesday Lunch Club in its first year and, building on its success, will continue providing a healthy meal for all at a low cost going forward.

“Welcoming everyone to the monthly lunch is a real joy for us all.' Talgarth County Councillor, William Powell,  added: “The smiles on the faces of everyone gathered in the Town Hall speak for themselves.

“We all owe a huge Thank You to the fantastic team of volunteers at #TuesdayLunchClub as they mark their first birthday!

“Also to the local businesses who supply and support the Club each month & the #DialaRide team who deliver the Clubbers to the Town Hall & get them home safely.

“I also understand that Talgarth Fire Station were delighted at the response to their Fire Safety presentation, which also took place. Thanks and respect to all involved.”
