IT was standing room only at last Wednesday's meeting in the George Hotel in Brecon over the future of the Brecon Jazz Festival.

County councillor Martin Weale took to the floor during the meeting, saying that as pained as he was to admit it, "Brecon Jazz is better known internationaly than the National Eistedfodd," and that far from having a nervous breakdown "there is no way on this planet that Brecon Jazz is going to be messed about with," an intent that seemed to reflect what most were feeling in the room.
