A team of 11 people from Landmarc Support Services (Landmarc), the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) and ESS Defence (ESS) will attempt the Welsh Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for SSAFA, the Armed Forces Charity.
The challenge, which they will undertake tomorrow (Friday, July 8), involves climbing Snowdon, Cadir Idris and Pen y Fan in under 24 hours, covering 17 miles and ascending 7,657 feet.
Chris Palser, Wales and West Training Area Manager for Landmarc, based at Sennybridge Training Area (SENTA) said: “Our team, called the Bog Womblers, is made up of nine Landmarc employees, three DIO colleagues and one ESS colleague and we are going to attempt the Welsh Three Peaks Challenge to raise awareness and hopefully some money for SSAFA.
“SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, is a UK-wide charity that provides lifelong support to serving men and women and veterans from the British Armed Forces and their families or dependents. SSAFA supported more than 79,000 people last year with its charitable services. In addition, through its commercial contracts, SSAFA continues to support the serving Armed Forces and their families in the UK and overseas.
“We aim to raise as much as possible to allow SSAFA to continue supporting members of the Armed Forces, both Regular and Reserves, veterans and their families, knowing they can depend on SSAFA for support now and for the rest of their lives.”
Samuel Nowell Corporate Partnerships Manager, added: “I am always delighted to hear about the challenges our supporters are taking on in support of SSAFA. Thanks to support like this, we can continue supporting veterans, those currently serving, and their families when they need us, how they need us, and where they need us.
“I can’t wait to see the photos from the fantastic challenge and to watch that fundraising total rise thanks to the fantastic commitment and support.”
Landmarc provides vital support services which enable our Armed Forces to live, work and train on the UK Defence Training Estate and has been an active supporter of SSAFA for several years, working with the charity to support initiatives that help veterans as they transition into civilian life.
