RECORD October temperatures brought in the crowds for the 14th Brecon Beacons National Park food festival, but the hot weather resulted in a downturn in trade, according to event organiser, Andrew Powell.

"The crowds were certainly up on last year, but trade was down, especially for meat products, probably because people didn't think about buying as much in the heat.

"You just could not have predicted this type of weather for October, " said a bemused Andrew, "but the town itself was buzzing on the day, it was a fantastic atmosphere and all the traders, despite some having a worse day than others, all said what a great day it had been which was heartening."
