After the appointment of its new theatre director David Wilson, Theatr Brycheiniog has announced it is working on increasing the "accessibility and inclusivity" of its theatre programme.
Following the huge success of the British Sign Language and relaxed performances of Sleeping Beauty, the Brecon-based theatre is seeking to highlight a number of performances it has coming up that specifically cater for individuals with both physical and learning disabilities.
Visiting Theatr Brycheiniog is easy with onsite parking and accessible facilities on every floor. Plus most shows have concession tickets for registered disabled, and teachers and HYNT registered carers and come free, making booking accessible for all.
Into The Light (Saturday, March 2) is a daring and powerful piece of physical theatre that explores the bittersweet attraction of the spotlight and our desire for interactions and connection through social media.
Featuring an inclusive cast of nine performers from three European countries, Into The Light seeks to expose the unique capabilities of neurodivergant and Down’s Syndrome performers. Guaranteed to be an evening of surprising, provocative and thought provoking entertainment; these talented performers will confound all your expectations.
On Thursday, March 14, Taking Flight Theatre Company present Peeling, an immersive and immensely funny play from award-winning playwright and leading disability ambassador, Kaite O’Reilly.
With interwoven British Sign Language, live audio description and English captions at every show, peeling challenges the big questions such as ‘who get to make art?’ and ‘whose stories do we share?’ allowing audiences to experience theatre afresh.
Taking Flight Theatre Company has been celebrated for their unique style, and making their inclusive cast an essential part of their identity rather than a mere box ticking exercise.
The much-loved story of the mischievous but naive Pinocchio comes to Theatr Brycheiniog on Tuesday, March 19. This multifaceted and organic interpretation of the childhood classic allows us to dive into the imagination of a child-puppet – a tale which invites us to reflect on values such as education, graft, responsibility and sincerity. This performance has no language and is suitable for the hard of hearing.
Theatr Brycheiniog welcomes all queries about any shows that are coming up. Don’t hesitate to contact the theatre with any queries about how it can help accommodate you, a family member or a friend by calling the box office on 01874 611622.
