A BRECON based butchers and farm shop has won a Three Star Gold Award for their rack of Welsh lamb.

The Welsh Venison Centre in Bwlch won the award for their Brecon reared lamb in the Great Taste awards 2017 which is organised by the Guild of Fine Food.

The centre, which is run by Andrew and Elaine Morgan, was established in 1985.

As well as supplying high-quality meat to the farm’s shop and cafe, it also supplies restaurants and hotels nationwide.

Andrew Morgan said: “This is a great achievement for the team here at the Welsh Venison Centre.

“We pride ourselves on producing fine quality meat, and winning a Three Star Gold award for our Welsh lamb was a dream come true - it gives recognition for the effort we put in producing and marketing Welsh lamb and agriculture.

“The Great Taste awards help showcase the best of British food and I am glad that something we have produced here in the Brecon Beacons has been rewarded with the highest accolade.”
