BUILTH Wells is gearing up for the Tour of Britain cycle race by staging its very own version of the event at the town's playing fields.

Top professional cyclists are to race through the town on Wednesday, September 14 as the Welsh leg of the gruelling race passes through Builth with riders racing from Welshpool to Caerphilly.

Ahead of the tour's visit cyclists of all ages are being encouraged to help ride the equivalent distance of the whole 704 mile Tour of Britain around the Groe in Builth on Sunday, September 11.
