A WALKING route in the Brecon Beacons National Park could be named Britain’s best dog walk.

The Bucklebury walk around Buckland Hill, south of Bwlch, is shortlisted for the competition run by Gala Bingo.

The route has been nominated by blogger Penny Ratcliffe, who writes for the aroundllangorselake.co.uk blog.

Gala Bingo will donate £5 to the Mayhew Animal Home, that supports dogs and cats in need of new homes, for every vote received.

The company sought nominations from bloggers across 15 national parks in Britain to compile its shortlist.

Penny said the Bucklebury walk takes its name from the area’s link to Lord of the Rings author JRR Tolkein who is thought to have been inspired after visiting Bwlch.
