CHILDREN have been seen climbing over barriers at a bridge which its feared could collapse into a river.

The Teddy Bear Bridge in Ystradgynlais, which is a footbridge connecting Heol Giedd and Derwen Road, has been closed since Tuesday morning when its support structures began to crumble into the river. An emergency road closure is also in place on Heol Giedd.

But Dyfed-Powys Police have now issued a plea to parents after a number of children were seen in the area. School children are currently on their half term holiday.

A tweeted posted on the force’s Ystradgynlais Neighbourhood Policing team’s Twitter account warned: "Appeal to parents to speak to their children after seeing a number of children climbing over the barriers surrounding Teddy Bear Bridge in Ystradgynlais. Both ends of the bridge have been barricaded and we would advice the public to keep away from the area."
