BRECON and Radnorshire ushered in the new year amidst a torrent of wet weather as rain and flooding submerged the region.

Severe rainfall overnight on Monday, January 2, and throughout the morning of Tuesday, January 3, led to problems throughout Mid Wales, with the Met Office issuing flood warnings for the rivers Usk, Wye and Teme, while 8,000 customers in the Brecon area temporarily lost power for around five minutes on Tuesday afternoon when a tree came down over power lines.
