New research has revealed that Llandrindod Wells is the cheapest place in the UK to rent a one-bedroom or two-bedroom flat.

The study, by Screen With Envy, analysed more than 83,000 listings on Rightmove UK to determine the average rent per month for different types of property across 123 areas.

Nationally, the average rent per calendar month for a flat is £2,086.56 according to the research, while the average for a house is £2151.22, for a bungalow is £1261.38, and for a shared property is £699.82.

However, Llandrindid Wells comes in with lower prices than most other areas, and was overall the second cheapest place to rent a flat in the UK, at an average of £448.75.

The area was also revealed to be the cheapest place bar none to rent a two-bedroom flat, at just £473.33 per month on average.

This is more than ten times cheaper than the most expensive area to rent a two-bedroom flat in the UK, West Central London, where prices are a massive £4,766.01 per month on average.

Llandrindod Wells didn’t make the top three lists for most or least expensive houses, bungalows or shared housing to rent in the UK, with Halifax being the cheapest place for shared housing, Dumfries and Galloway being named cheapest for bungalows, and Lincoln being cheapest for houses to rent.

Screen With Envy explained: “With the current difficulties in renting, we decided to take it upon ourselves to find out what exactly your rental budget could get you in the UK.

“As renting is a significant financial responsibility, you must understand how much rent you can afford, the extra living costs involved and what your money can get you in different locations in the UK.

“To do this, we scraped Rightmove UK, analysing over 123 areas and 83,000 listings. From this, we were then able to determine the average rent PCM for a flat, shared property, bungalow and house.”
