Brecon Youth 58 Abercynon 7Brecon Youth progressed into the semi-final of the plate with an outstanding display of attacking rugby.
After many weeks of game cancellations due to adverse weather it was good to be back in action. Any concerns the coaches may have had about the long lay-off causing rustiness were quickly put to one side with Brecons winger Morgan Vaughan scoring a hat trick of tries within the first 15 minutes of the game
It was a perfect start for the hosts and it was more of the same throughout the encounter with Brecon scoring 10 tries to Abercynons one, much to the delight of the large partisan crowd.
With many players unavailable it was particularly satisfying to see so many players contributing to a excellent win and confirming to the coaches Brecon youth have good strenght and depth with in their squad.
The pack must take a huge part of the credit.
Their hard work at the breakdown and the set-piece gave the Brecon backs good go-forward ball which they utilised to good effect throughout the game.
The pick of the forwards was Brecon’s wing forward Matthew Williams.
The comprehensive win gives Brecon Youth another excellent opportunity of another cup final and possible silverware, but all realise there are some good sides remaining in the competition and Brecon will not be taking anything for granted.
