Police have confirmed that a body has been found in the search for a 96-year-old woman from Brecon.
Named only as Rita, Dyfed-Powys Police confirmed that officers searching for the pensioner have found a body in the Brecon area.
Rita, who lived in the centre of the town, was last seen around a week ago at 10.20am on Saturday, February 26.
There has been a huge community effort to find Rita from both residents and emergency services.
Residents have pooled together to look for Rita all over the town, meanwhile the Mid and West Wale Fire and Rescue Service and Brecon Mountain Rescue Team have swept the rivers.
The large multi-agency operation also included the National Police Air Service and the Search and Rescue Dog Association.
A force spokesperson said: “Police searching for a missing 96-year-old woman in the Brecon area have today found a body.
“Her family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.”
