Fire crews worked for more than two hours yesterday afternoon to extinguish a house fire in Brecon.

Brecon, Builth Wells and Crickhowell crews were called to the incident on Cradoc Road at around 3:30pm yesterday (Tuesday).

A spokesperson for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews responded to a re-ignition of fire that occurred overnight. Fire spread to the inside of the property and in the timber joist.

"Crews utilised two hose reel jets, two breathing apparatus, two thermal imaging cameras, small gear, DeWalt saw and lighting to extinguish the fire and make the scene safe."

Powys County Council workers were also in attendance to close the road due to high winds, which were causing slates to fly off.

The fire crews left the scene at 5:48pm.
