A 23-year-old man has been arrested following a string of thefts from gardens and outbuildings in Rhayader over the bank holiday weekend.

Dyfed-Powys Police said they received “a number of reports” of items being stolen from sheds, gardens and other private property in the area during the Easter weekend.

Officers from both the Neighbourhood Policing and Prevention Team and the Response Team launched a swift investigation, which led them to identify a suspect.

A man from Leominster was arrested on suspicion of burglary and criminal damage. He has since been released on bail while enquiries continue.

The force is now urging homeowners to take extra precautions to secure their properties.
