Police in the Ystradgynlais area have asked parents to watch how their children use the 999 emergency phone system after receiving two separate hoax calls in one evening.

Dyfed-Powys Police received the calls from children on Monday evening, January 17, from two different public pay phones.

Posting to the Ystradgynlais, Ystradfellte and Pontneddfechan Police Facebook page, the force said: “PARENTS - Two separate incomplete 999 calls have been received tonight from public pay phones. Both were hoax calls from children. Please ensure that your children only use the 999 system in an emergency. Valuable resources could be diverted from someone that really needs us.”
