Dyfed Powys Police have received a number of reports over the weekend of Courier Fraud in the Brecon area.

Residents have reported receiving a scam call from a man claiming to be a DCI from the London area.

They claim to have arrested someone in the possession of a number of credit and debit cards which have been used fraudulently.

The scammer will ask you to take a number of actions including calling 999 or 101. This is just the start, and in most cases they will eventually ask you to move money around bank accounts, withdraw a sum of cash, move money into Crypto Currency or allow your card and PIN to be collected.

A spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “This is a scam. The Police will never ask you to make any financial transaction.

“We know a large number of people likely to be targeted by this scam may not be on social media. Please take this information and share it with as many of your friends and family as you can.”

Remember: Don’t hand out any personal information or financial details. Don’t engage in conversation. Just hang up! Don’t make any arrangements to hand over any cash or cards, or buy any items they may ask you to.
