A MEMBER of staff at Cantref Adventure Farm has scooped a prestigious award for ’making visitors’ day’.

Adam Price is the first person to win the National Farm Attractions Network (NFAN) Day Maker Award, beating off stiff competition from hundreds of competitors across the UK.

The award was introduced by the NFAN to recognise the staff at the UK’s numerous farming attractions who go out of their way to make a visitor’s day.

The 21-year-old’s mother Penny Price said her extremely modest son began working at the tourist attraction as a teenager.

"He is so committed to the job," she said. "He is in charge of co-ordinating the entertainment and is using everything he learnt at RAU to continue to improve things for visitors to Cantref.

"His passion for his job is evident by the number of hours he puts in."

Cantref is no stranger to success at the NFAN Awards. Last year the farm won the Farm Attraction of the Year for the second time, originally scooping the award a decade ago.

As well as Adam’s award, this year the farm was nominated in two further categories; Best Digital Presence and Attraction of the Year. The children’s farm park boasts an indoor and outdoor play zones and animal shows, a horse riding centre, cafe and accommodation - all offering a great holiday or day out adventure in the heart of the Beacons.

Colin Evans, Cantref’s owner and NFAN Chairman, said 20 million people visit farm attractions annually.

He said: "We welcome hundreds of thousands of school children a year onto our farms to teach them about farming and show them where their food comes from.

"The NFAN annual awards celebrate the best of the best in the farm attractions sector; the educators and the innovators, the award winning farm restaurants and the customer service champions. We also recognise the key role played by our industry partners, from the architects and designers to play equipment manufacturers with our Trade Supplier of the Year award."

The winners were announced last week at a glittering awards dinner, part of a three day Annual Conference and Trade Exhibition in Brighton.
