A loving partner and father who worked for the ambulance service has been named as the motorcyclist who was killed in a crash near Brecon last weekend.

Training paramedic Dan Orlandea, who was also a Blood Bike Wales volunteer, died at the scene of the crash on the A4215 between Libanus and Defynnog on Sunday, November 3.

The 52-year-old was riding his Honda motorbike on the road, known locally as Riddings Road, when he was involved in a collision with a Chrysler car at around 3.15pm.

Tributes have been paid to Mr Orlandea, from Caerphilly, by his family.

His family said: “Dan was a caring, loving, devoted partner and father. He worked for South West Ambulance Service as a full time emergency care assistant, and was training to be a paramedic.

“He volunteered as a community first responder in his own area and often volunteered for Blood Bikes Wales.

“Dan loved being with his family and spending as much time as he could doing sporting activities with his daughter.”

A Dyfed-Powys Police spokeswoman said on Monday, November 4: “A motorbike and a car collided at around 3.15pm, with the rider of the motorbike sustaining serious injuries. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The A4215 was closed for several hours as investigation enquiries were carried out.”

The force has asked that anyone with information or who witnessed the crash contact the Brecon Roads Policing Unit by calling 101.
