A care home in Brecon is celebrating following a glowing inspection report.

Trenewydd care home was visited by Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) in November and was assessed in four different areas: wellbeing, care and support, environment and leadership, and management.

The home on situated in the residential suburb of Llanfaes and provides residential care for up to 35 residents, received ‘Excellent’ ratings for across the board.

The inspection report highlighted that residents at Trenewydd enjoy “enriched and fulfilled lives” supported by dedicated staff who deliver highly personalised care. Inspectors praised the home’s creative activity programme from animal encounters and visiting choirs to intergenerational school visits, with residents saying, “there are so many activities, I love it.”

The environment was described as “warm, clean and very comfortable”, with well-kept gardens that promote independence. Leadership was noted as “approachable and highly effective”, creating a positive culture where achievements are celebrated, while exemplary safeguarding, outstanding communication with families, and a highly accurate electronic medication system were also commended

Service manager, Richard Shepherd, said: We are incredibly proud of this report and the recognition it gives to those who work here and the positive atmosphere they create together every day. The inspectors saw exactly what I see, a home full of energy, warmth, and genuine care. Our team works with real passion to provide the very best care to our residents and it’s wonderful to see their efforts being recognised in this way.”
