A domesticated bird of prey, which police say could swoop at people thinking they have food, has gone missing in the Brecon Beacons.

The tame three-year-old falcon flew away on Tuesday, December 10 last year after it was spooked by wild birds near the Storey Arms activity centre.

The Gyr Saker Falcon which is wearing anklets and a leg ring was last seen near the centre which is one of the most popular meeting points for walkers in the Brecon Beacons.

Dyfed-Powys Police appealed for help to find the predatory bird on Monday, January 20.

The rural crime team tweeted: “Spooked by wild birds and flew away. Wearing anklets and a leg ring. It is tame and may fly at people for food.”

Anyone who has seen the bird or who has information about its whereabouts should call Dyfed-Powys Police on 101 and ask for officer 927.
