Nantmel Community Council and Rhayader Town Council are working together in an attempt to bring the opportunity of ultrafast connectivity to all properties within their respective areas.

Last year the community and town council chose Broadway Partners as their supplier to work with - they specialise in building and running fibre networks with projects in both Wales and Scotland.

Connectivity in Nantmel and Rhayader is variable with some better connectivity in our more built up areas - though there are still some challenges - the rural areas however are largely plagued with poor or no connectivity.

The plan for this project is to bring the opportunity of ultrafast connectivity to those rural properties as well as those located in their towns and villages.

There is currently generous funding available from both UK and Welsh Governments in the UK Gigabit Voucher Scheme, with a top up available for properties in Wales that fall below a certain speed threshold.

Through November, properties in both Nantmel and Rhayader communities received a letter from both the councils to inform them of the project and to encourage them to register their interest.

The two councils are now looking at arranging an open community Zoom call, due to be held over the next couple of months, where residents will be offered the choice to join via video or dial in to hear about the project and have the chance to ask questions.

The opportunity to register your interest, with no commitment, is still open and this can be done by emailing your relevant council on [email protected] or [email protected] .

Residents are encouraged to register their interest as soon possible to ensure that you do not miss out on this opportunity.
