A village community showed its remarkable generosity last month with its charity auction once again proving a success.

The team at Clee Thompkinson Francis, along with the local farming committee, pulled out all the stops at the Sennybridge Christmas Auction, with the grand total coming in at an incredible £9,060.50 raised for Cancer Research Wales.

Auctioneer Peter Francis took charge on a wet and windy morning on December 11, selling off a wealth of goodies that had been donated by local people.

The was no shortage of items to be auctioned, with lambs, fresh meat and vegetables, food hampers, sweets, children’s toys and alcohol among some of the wares to go under the hammer.

A live turkey was also brought along and could be seen wandering around the market, before he too was auctioned off for the worthy cause.

The popular auction has been a stalwart of the Sennybridge calendar for several years, having first been held in 2013. The Sennybridge agriculture and village community has notched up almost £40,000 in donations for the local Cancer Research Wales branch over the past nine years.

The Brecon and Sennybridge Committee of Cancer Research Wales would like to sincerely thank Peter Francis and his team once again, as well as the community for their unending support.
