ENFORCING the Welsh Government's carrier bag charge is NOT a priority for Powys County Council.
The authority has said it is adopting a 'light touch' approach to policing the new law which means shops and takeaways in Wales must charge customers five pence for single use plastic and paper bags.
The law, which is intended to reduce the amount of carrier bags that are given away and almost instantly thrown away, came into force from Saturday, October 1.
