KENSINGTON Baptist Church in Brecon is entering a new phase in its history this coming weekend, with the induction of their new minister, Rev Ifor Williams.
For the last seven years Ifor, who lives at Erwood with his wife Penny, has been working as a rural chaplain throughout the county.
A farmer’s son, Ifor has focussed in his career on working in the farming community, including relief milking in Glasbury as well as working part time with Bowketts Farm Supplies in Three Cocks. He is also a volunteer with FCN, the farming support group.
From September 1 he has been part time minister at Kensington, and will continue working part time across the county. A lifelong rugby enthusiast, he is also chaplain to Gwernyfed Rugby Club.
In recent years the church community at Kensington have settled into their new building, welcoming various groups onto their premises, including Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Scottish Dancing, Powys History, Pilates, Welsh classes, Daisy Birthing, Arthritis Care and Dementia Matters to name a few. They also host the Sparklers toddler group, Messy Church and have just started a monthly service for all learning types called the ‘All In Thing’. They extend a warm welcome to everyone to join them for Ifor’s Induction Service this coming Saturday, October 7 at 2.30pm.
