A new BBC One TV ’indent’, featuring bog snorkellers in Llanwrtyd Wells, will be broadcast for the first time tonight.

It shows the bog snorkellers in fancy dress taking the plunge at Waen Rhydd Bog. The short videos will be broadcast across the UK at regular intervals during 2017, bringing Powys's most eccentric sport to screens across the nation.

The organiser was Jen Welsby, who also organises the annual World Bog Snorkelling Championships.

The short film was recorded in May and directed by acclaimed British photographer Martin Parr. He has been commissioned by the BBC to 'capture an evolving portrait of modern Britain in all its diversity' in what will become a collection of around 20 BBC One idents.

Other Welsh groups in the films include the Ospreys wheelchair rugby team, Brecon Mountain Rescue and a group of banger racers from Newport who will also make their on-screen debut on Wednesday.

The BBC said that the new portraits would be based around the theme of "oneness" and would feature "different groups of people coming together across the UK, united by their shared passions and interests".

The groups have been selected to reflect the diversity of modern Britain and the changing mood of the nation through significant events in the coming year.

The bog snorkellers who took part in the filming were Danny Fleck, 29, (dressed as Balloon Man), Jessie Fleck, 33 (Fish/Frog/Boat), Finn Fraser, 33, Anthony Thurgate, 31 (Sequins and Sparkles), Darren Frowhawk, 33, Sam Alexander, 30 (Giraffe), Catherine Thurgate, 25, (Sequins and Sparkles), Sarah Thurgate, 26 (Leopard/Tiger), John Chambers, 28 (Lizard) and Tom Jones, 35 (Mermaid).
