HANDMADE signs in the shape of arrows led eagle-eyed art fans on a fun trail around the studios of artists who had opened their doors to the public in Brecon.
The event was the third annual Brecon Town Open Studios, which saw artists welcoming the public to their places of work from 11am until 6pm on both the Saturday and Sunday (June 23-24).
Guests keen to visit the artists could either look out for the signs or follow a map containing more specific information about where all the studios could be found.
One hive of artistic activity was the Vaults Art Studios based next to the Market Hall, which is proving a successful spawning ground for established artists and talented people with ambitions of a career in art.
Among those showing off their artwork was Brecon painter Karin Mear who had on display some of her large acrylic paintings.
Nearby Velvet Cole was welcoming visitors to her photography studio where they were able to see her portraits and family photographs along with other subjects and art prints.
Painter and illustrator Angharad Pickering showed off her range of original greetings cards along with some of her distinctive drawings and paintings.
Gemma Schiebe showed visitors her unique oil paintings of the Brecon Beacons and demonstrated some of her innovative painting techniques.
Sarah Powell has been working on a series of charcoal drawings depicting former Brecon Jazz performers and these were on display along with still lifes and landscapes.
Karin said all the artists were greatly encouraged by the feedback they had received. She said: “The weekend was hugely successful with hundreds of visitors calling into the various studios on the trail. The feedback we received was very good also with many positive comments being made about the event and the town.”
