An amnesty for five models of firearms has been issued.

Five models of Side/ Top Venting Blank Firers manufactured by Bruni are now illegal to own.

Dyfed-Powys Police has requested owners to hand in their firearm to one of the following local police stations before February 27 to avoid prosecution.

In Powys, owners can hand over their firearms at police stations in Brecon, Llandrindod Wells and Newtown from Monday to Friday between 8am and 4pm.

A spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police has said: “To ensure safety when transporting a TVBF, please place the item in a bag or box to keep it out of public sight. Make a specific journey solely for this purpose to minimise the time spent in public. Upon arrival, inform the staff at the front counter that you are there to hand in a firearm before presenting it to them.”
