A Brecon caravan and campsite has won a UK-wide award for its fantastic washroom facilities.
Bryndu Caravan and Camping, which is around a 15-minute drive north east of Brecon, is delighted to have cleaned up at the Loo of the Year Awards 2023.
The Loo of the Year Awards, now in their 35 year, encourage and celebrate the highest possible standards in all ‘away from home’ washrooms.
After winning the Wales-wide category, Bryndu then went on to scoop the UK-wide gong in the individual category for the ‘best away from home washrooms’.
The caravan and campsite is also delighted to have be awarded diamond grade in the Washroom Cleaner of the Year Award, relating specifically to the cleaning staff that looks after facilities.
The Loo of the Year Awards and Washroom Cleaner of the Year Awards for cleaning staff have been identifying the best washrooms in Britain since 198 and are recognised as standard setters for all those who provide away from home facilities for staff, customers and visitors.
Bryndu is a traditional working farm set between the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains.
It is family-run, namely by the Gittoes family of Wayne, Mary, William and Emma, and boasts a selection of accommodations and facilities set in the peace and quiet of the national park.
Reacting to the awards, Mary said: “We are immensely proud and totally overwhelmed.
“We and our team take such pride in our toilet and shower block and its so rewarding to receive such prestigious acknowledgement.”
Every entry received an unannounced visit from a Loo of the Year inspector and was assessed against 101 judging criteria, including signage and decor, fixtures, fittings and overall standards of cleanliness and management.
Every washroom receives a grading of bronze, silver, gold, platinum, platinum plus or diamond. Diamond winners are short listed for one or more of the National Awards covering England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, and The Irish Republic.
Thousand of toilets were judged this year, across the 61 separate entry categories of the competition, with many first-time entries from establishments joining the increasing number of providers who submit their washroom facilities for an annual, independent assessment.
