BRECON Jazz Club are delighted to launch their autumn/winter programme.

Latest news: guitarist Jean Guyomarc’h will make an additional appearance in Brecon at the Castle Hotel lunchtime on Wednesday (from 1pm) October 11, with local bassist Ian Cooper. A little jazz gift to the local community from the hotel and jazz club and all are welcome. You can hear also Jean in concert with fellow dazzling guitarist Will Barnes and Erika Lyons on bass at the Muse on Tuesday, October 10 at 8pm.

In November we have the first UK performance of Lenore Raphael and Friends and Lenore writes that she is ‘so excited’ to be finally coming to play in Brecon and the Club are pleased to be partnering with Christ College to promote the November event, in association with their music department, staff and students.

In December the crème de la crème of gypsy jazz, Mozes Rosenberg will be playing at the Muse. Mark is one of the most phenomenal acoustic musicians playing on the international scene today. Alongside his older brother Stochelo, the Rosenberg family have become known globally as the “first family” in gypsy jazz and are in constant demand at festivals and concert halls the world over.

Mozes grew up around some of the greatest Gypsy Jazz players in the world. Like many Gypsies, he started playing guitar at an early age, he’s recorded with Stochelo and Jimmy Rosenberg, and worked with Paco de Lucia, and Joe Zawinul to name only a few. Mozes is a sensitive, all-around player who has that undeniable Rosenberg touch in all that he plays.

The trio features Dutch double bass legend Arnoud Van Den Berg (Jimmy Rosenberg band/Robin Nolan Trio) as well as the UK guitar virtuoso Chris Quinn on Rhythm Guitar, one of the best rhythm sections in the business.

Our October and December events will be held at our regular venue, the Muse, described as ‘Brecon’s bijou arts centre’ (thejazzmann) and proving to be a very popular jazz spot for both musicians and audiences.

NB all events are £5 for students and young people - we are always keen to encourage younger performers and music fans. Tickets can be bought now and in advance on our website https://breconjazz.club/wp/

With support from the Brecon Beacons National Parks (Sustainable Development Fund), Brecon Jazz Club in association with Karin Mear of Brecon Vaults Art Studios, have produced a set of exhibition panels detailing the international and the local history of Brecon Jazz Festival. These are on display at the Muse during Jazz and Festival events and available for loan to other groups. Further panels are planned, along with a series of Jazz postcards.
