A shop in Brecon has raised more than two hundred pounds for the local food bank with the help of the community.
The Original Factory Shop, based on High Street Superior, raised £252 and 42 pence for the Brecon Food Bank which was donated on Thursday, December 2 - ahead of Christmas.
The money was raised by the community who put money in the in-store charity boxes as well as from donations made to the store’s charity fund from swiping their ‘Tof’s Club’ member cards or buying carrier bags.
The shop, which sells a variety of items and clothing, picked the charity following a Facebook poll which asked the community which charity they would like to see the shop support.
Store manager, Helen Jones said: “We’re really excited that we and our customers have helped to raise £252.42 for Brecon Foodbank, our chosen charity.
“What they do is invaluable for the local area and we’d like to think that this effort will go some small way to supporting their work in the community.
“As a company, this year we have decided to support local charities in our towns, and in March we asked our customers through Facebook which charity they would like us to support.”
