Brecon Cathedral echoed with music and applause on Saturday evening as the Builth Wells Ladies Choir took to the stage alongside internationally acclaimed tenor Russell Watson.

The concert, part of the Russell Watson Magnificent Buildings Concert Series, drew a full house to the historic venue. Also performing were renowned pianist and arranger Mike Moran and rising soprano Nancy May.

The Builth Wells Ladies Choir opened the evening with a selection of Welsh favourites and contemporary choral pieces.

Russell Watson delivered a programme that spanned classical works and popular crossover hits. His performance was accompanied by Mike Moran, whose piano playing brought depth and intimacy to the cathedral setting.

Nancy May, a classical crossover soprano known for her charity work and previous performances at Westminster Abbey, contributed solo pieces and a duet with Watson, adding elegance and warmth to the evening.

The choir’s musical director, Ionwen Davies said: "To perform in such a stunning venue alongside artists of this calibre was a dream come true for our choir. The energy, emotion, and connection with the audience made it a night we’ll never forget."

Founded in 1968, the Builth Wells Ladies Choir continues to be a pillar of the local arts scene.
