It’s been a busy few months for the Black Mountains Lions. Following the Inter Schools Quiz which was won by Llangors in January, we have been busy working with the Haygarth Surgeries in the fight against diabetes. Look out for the information board in both surgeries. Check out the Lions website information obout Diabetes on: www.lionsclubs.org/en/give-our-focus-areas/diabetes.

Keep an eye out for our diabetes activities which will take place in our area. We aim to organise different activities throughout the coming year in order to raise awareness of the disease. We have also been able to help Haygarth Surgeries with a donation of £1000 towards replacing their two defibrillators with up to date versions.

Other local donations include Ysgol Y Mynydd Du when we presented them with two playground tables with seating. Also Gheckoes netball team received £500 and £250 for Hay Theatre costumes.

We have also supported Owain Feasy with a donation of £500 towards funding his one-year voluntary assistant teaching programme in Malaysia. We look forward to hearing all about it on his return.

Huge Easter eggs have been distributed in different venues throughout our area. If you see one, have a go at winning it. Only £1 a go. For more information about how you can help us, or how we help people locally please contact David James on 0845 833 740 or Cheryl on [email protected]
