A PRESSURE group campaigning to purchase Hay Castle for public use face a race against time as rumours circulate that the iconic building has been sold.
Filmmaker Tamara Gordon has launched a 'maverick' scheme to buy the privately owned building for the use of the people of Hay, after King Richard Booth announced news of the Castle's sale earlier this month.
For £5 or £10 upwards anyone can buy a 'quick route' to a royal title in the 'Independent Kingdom of Hay' and help fund a 'maverick' bid to buy the Norman Castle, which has a £2 million price tag, or a major share in it.
However, time may be running out for the Buy Hay Castle bid as talk increases in the second-hand book town that a mystery buyer has had an offer for the Castle accepted.
