Glanusk Estate manager, Debbie Murray, is set to help transport 1,100 Teddy bears to the Ukranian Embassy next week for children fleeing the current danger in Ukraine.

Debbie is a trustee of The Teddy Trust, and is working with three other trustees, who are not paid for the work they do, to a hire a transit van to transport the teddies.

The Teddy Trust is a small Herefordshire-based charity that has achieved much since it all began in 2015.

Through its work it reaches out to help children across the world who have experienced the horrors of war, are living in extreme poverty, or have suffered such horrendous abuse that they are scarred for life, physically and emotionally.

Speaking to the Brecon and Radnor Express, Debbie said: “We would dearly like to get as many Teddy bears to the Polish centres as possible, thank you.”

Following the attack on Ukraine, mid Wales has shown a lot of support for the Ukranian people through fundraising and sending out essential items. Debbie, and other trustees of The Teddy Trust are now trying to provide even a little bit of comfort to the millions of children who have had to flee their homes.

The Teddy Trust sends Teddy bears to children who are suffering from starvation, abuse or war. Teddy bears are collected from around the United Kingdom and the charity believes that children in the UK can learn about the suffering of other children around the world, and how they can help make a difference through the charity’s work.

Lots of companies and individuals support the organisation by providing premises, packaging materials, drop off points, fundraising, and countless hours of volunteering.

The charity has sent 130,000 teddy bears to over 15 countries, on three continents and are now looking to send teddy bears to children fleeing the horrific war in Ukraine.

The historic Welsh estate in Crickhowell is acting as a drop off point for anyone who would like to donate any teddy bears that are looking for new homes.

The drop off point is at the Estate Office, Glanusk Estate, Crickhowell, NP8 1LP (access via the B4558 gate only, no access from A40).

The Teddy Trust is looking for teddies that are: small enough for children to carry, clean and in good condition, do not emit a noise of any type, cuddly, soft and comforting, not branded, not containing batteries or oversized.

The Teddy Trust would like to stress to anyone donating teddy bears that they are only taking donations of teddy bears, and no other form of toys will be taken.
