A CHOIR, which went viral on social media earlier this year, took over the Brecon Rugby Club last Saturday night.

The Pendyrus Male Voice Choir from Porth went to the rugby club after a successful concert in Theatr Brycheiniog where they ended the night by leading the building with Welsh songs such as the famous hymn, Calon Lan, shown in the video by a bystander below.

The choir shared the stage in Brecon with the soloists Manon Ogwen Parry and Ashley Richards for the epic vocal performance.

Speaking about the concert earlier that night, the conductor of the choir Stewart Roberts said: "We were at least 20 men down tonight, normally we have over 90 but tonight we had 68 choristers.

"It was really good, I was really impressed with everybody tonight, we had a great mix of songs and the singing was really, really good."

Their version of Bring Him Home which they released in June for Armed Forces Day has received over 300,000 views, while their version of Myfanwy, by Joseph Parry, received just under 200,000 views in July.

The choir’s Publicity Manager Robert Forester said: "It was just crazy, up until 12 weeks ago we only had 2,800 followers on Facebook.

"After the video of Myfanwy from our rehearsal went viral, we went to over 8,000 followers in 12 weeks and have received lots of concert inquiries since."

The choir will be performing for the Royal British Legion in July to commemorate the end of the First World War.
