A CLEANER took gold jewellery from the home of her vulnerable employer for safe keeping - and then pawned it.

Margaret Claire Jones, of Rhestr Fawr, Ystradgynlais, received £2,453 for the assorted gold items which belonged to her 66-year-old employer, who was in hospital, after taking it to pawnshop Ramsdens.

Magistrates in Brecon, who have sent Jones to the Crown Court for sentence, heard Jones took the jewellery while the woman was in hospital due to her failing mental health.

The 40-year-old, who was released on unconditional bail, had admitted theft from her employer.
