There was an excellent attendance at the Coffee Morning held at the Victoria Hall recently in aid of the Llanwrtyd and District Heritage and Arts Centre, writes Elin Mabbutt.

Susan Price extended a warm welcome to everyone present and said how good it was to see such a wonderful crowd after what has been a break of two years.

She then welcomed newly elected County Councillor Peter James, who said what a great pleasure it was for him to attend and noted that this was his first official engagement since the election.

Cllr James encouraged everyone to be as generous as possible in supporting the local heritage and arts Centre which is such an important asset to the town and surrounding area. Also in attendance was Llanwrtyd Mayor, Councillor Jim Davies.

Door steward was Lynne Ball and raffle tickets were sold by Anwen Price.

Stallholders were: Books and Toys: Sarah Jones, Rob Thomas and John Davies; Chinese Auction: Mollie Davies and Vera Lea; Produce: Georgie Perrett and Peri Emirali; Bric a Brac: Pat Jones and Suzanne Clifton; Cakes: Kath McCann and Lynne Brookes. Refreshments were served by Val Loveridge and Val Ellis.

At the start of the event excellent entertainment was provided by Alaw, Kathryn, Erin, Menai, Grace, Madoc, Magi-Gwen, Imogen, Rhiannon, Teleri, Sioned, Cariad from the Welsh Unit at Builth Wells Primary School and Ioan Mabbutt from Aberystwyth and was much enjoyed by all those present. The accompanist was Heather Davis.

At the end of what had been a most enjoyable morning, an omnibus vote of thanks was proposed by Lynne Brookes.

The Llanwrtyd and District Heritage and Arts Centre is open every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday between 10am and 4pm. Admission is free.
