Representatives of the Freemasons visited Hay & District Dial-a-Ride recently to present the community transport charity with a donation of £1300.

This was made up of contributions from the Hereford Masonic Charity Foundation, the Loyal Hay Lodge and the Loyal Hay Chapter.

The Freemasons have long been dedicated to making meaningful contributions to society and they are committed to improving the lives of others. This latest generous donation will have a positive impact on Hay & District Dial-a-Ride’s ability to continue their vital work, ensuring that individuals who rely on their services can access the transportation they require.

Lesley Moore, Chief Executive of Hay Dial-a-Ride, told the Brecon and Radnor Express: “The generous donation will make a difference to us in a year when the cost of living continues to make an impact on our service.

“We were delighted to welcome Derek Price, Nigel Boothby and David Gwynne to see our minibus in service and to meet one of our drivers and service users.”

Established in December 1994, Hay Dial-a-Ride provides an accessible community transport to people of any age living within a nine-mile radius of Hay-on-Wye and new members and volunteers are always welcome.

Their aim is to help our customers maintain an independent lifestyle, reducing loneliness and social and rural isolation and enabling residents to feel part of a thriving community. They are more than just a transport service - access to health and community services is a vital part of physical and mental health and wellbeing.

Hay Dial-a-Ride is a registered charity and a not-for-profit community organisation. All their income goes into the service to support its members.

The service will be celebrating its 30th birthday later this year.

Charity has always been a core principle of Freemasonry. Individuals can make an important contribution at local, national and global level by giving both their time and money. Freemasonry is one of the largest charitable givers in the country, contributing £51.1m to deserving causes in 2020 alone.
