Coronation Street stars Cath Tyldesley, Katie McGlynn and Tisha Merry are swapping the Weatherfield cobbles for the Brecon Beacons for charity this summer, and you can join them.

Organised by Global Adventure Challenges, the trio who play Eva Price, Sinead Tinker and Steph Britton, are taking part in TrekFest on June 4. Now in its fourth year, TrekFest is the ultimate endurance challenge, offering participants the choice of a 25km, 50km, 75km and 100km route.

Taking part alongside friends and family as part of ‘Team Vital’, the ladies will embark on the 50km course to raise funds for The Joshua Wilson Brain Tumour Charity based in Manchester and Parkinson’s UK.

Registration is now open for the event, which saw more than 1,500 trekkers take part last year, raising more than £250,000 for various charities. Entry is via the website, www.trekfest.org.uk, and participants can enter as either an individual or a team. Trekkers simply need to pay the registration fee, from £35pp and then raise a minimum sponsorship of £140 for a charity of their choice for the 25km route. This increases to a £60pp registration fee with a minimum sponsorship of £460 for the 100km route.

Actress Catherine Tyldesley said: “I’m passionate about completing TrekFest. Our team will train hard to make a respectable time, and raise much needed funds for both charities. We hope to do both of these causes proud, and I’m looking forward to this amazing adventure with a great bunch of friends."

Katie McGlynn said: "I’m really looking forward to getting stuck in to the challenge. We will be going on some training treks in the spring to wear in our hiking boots and get used to climbing hills. I have been told this certainly isn’t going to be a walk in the park.

“But, there’s a great bunch of us who will motivate each other and I’m sure we will have plenty of belly laughs (and blisters) along the way, while raising money for The Josh Wilson Brain Tumour Charity and Parkinsons UK."

Tisha said: "I am very excited for the challenge. I will certainly be challenging myself, as I have never done anything like this before and am prepared to push my body to the limit. We decided on two amazing charities, one local and one national, so I feel honoured to be taking part with Team Vital to support these worthy causes. They will be in my thoughts along the journey. Bring it on!"

Managing director and co-founder of Global Adventure Challenges, Peter Robinson, said: ‘We are delighted that Cath, Katie and Steph have chosen to take part in TrekFest. With the numbers growing year on year is has now become one of our leading events. Although 50km is a pretty tough challenge that will test the girls’ endurance to the full, it is highly achievable with the right training.’
