CREDU’S charity shop in Brecon has celebrated its first birthday.

The shop held a tea party, with cake, tea and coffee, in which customers and staff were able to wander in and out of.

Credu is a charity in Powys which offers support to young carers. The charity began in 2003, when they were previously known as Powys Carers Service. The charity voted to change their name in 2015 to Credu, which is Welsh for believe, in order to reflect their values and aspirations.

The charity shop, which was opened on March 17 last year by the Brecon and Radnorshire AM Kirsty Williams, is situated on Brecon High Street. It also provides a local hub for young and adult carers in the community. It runs events such as meet-ups, advice sessions, and trips out for carers, in order to provide respite from caring for relatives.

Tammy Lancaster, deputy manager of the shop, told the Brecon & Radnor Express that the first year of the shop had “gone well”. The shop is run by a group of local volunteers in Brecon.

All funds raised by the shop go towards supporting both young and adult carers in the community. You can get involved or find out more by visiting their shop, or phoning them on 01874 622807.
