Former mayor Rosemary Evans was clapped by a crowd in Brecon this afternoon as her funeral procession stopped outside the Guildhall.
Greeted by a large crowd, current mayor John Powell, Brecon Town Council and members of local businesses and organisations, Mrs Evans made her last trip through the town which she deeply cared about.
The funeral procession was greeted by ringing bells from St Mary's Church as it arrived in the town before stopping for a couple of minutes on the High Street.
Despite the colder weather and grey skies, the pavements were full of residents looking to pay their final respects at lunchtime today.
Flowers were given from the town council to the procession before it continued to the funeral in Hereford Crematorium.
Mayor John Powell paid tribute to his former colleague and said it was "heart warming to see the crowd outside the Guildhall.
Cllr Powell said: "It was absolutely heart-warming to see town councillors, past Mayors, town council staff and many people from the Brecon area outside The Guildhall and turning out around town to pay their last respects in tribute to Rose's funeral procession.
"Thanks also to the Tower Captain at St Mary's Church for ringing the bells for the funeral cortege.
"It was very touching to hear the assembled crowd clapping to respectively honour Rose's legacy of hard work, long service and longstanding commitment and dedication to the Brecon area and Brecon Town Council.
"Rose will be much missed by all, her family, many friends, fellow town councillors, and people in the Brecon community and beyond."
The 82-year-old, who spent her whole life living around the Brecon area, was known for being "kind" and "hard working".
Mrs Evans, who was mayor on three separate occasions, sadly passed away on Wednesday, August 11 at Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr Tydfil following a stroke.
