DESPITE a cloudy and somewhat threatening sky, large crowds turned out to support the 27th Elan Valley Show which was held on August Bank Holiday Monday at the Noyadd Farm where the event was staged by kind permission of John Morgan and family.
There was a large turnout of entries in the sheep and dog classes. In addition there were horse classes and marquee classes. In the marquee there were classes for baking, preserves, home grown produce, floral, woodwork and craft sections as well as a men only cookery competition.
These plus the children’s classes created great interest.
There were also a number of stalls for people to look around and enjoy, including a falconry display by Valley View Rhayader, face painting, glitter tattoos, balloon modelling together with a barbecue and bar. There was a sheep shearing competition which went on late into the evening with a number of classes for participants of varying experience.
Christine Davies, the general show secretary, said that the show committee paid tribute to all the judges, stewards, sponsors, cup donors, exhibitors and all those who had helped to make the show a success.
