PROUD dad Tyler Langton popped the question to partner Sophie Greene just an hour after she gave birth to the couple’s second child.
The 25-year-old chef, from Rhayader, had asked midwife Carys Griffiths to take safe keeping of the engagement ring he’d been hiding in the spare tyre in his car for more than a month while Sophie went into the final stages of labour.
After Sophie, also 25, gave birth to seven pounds and one ounce baby boy Charlie at 4am on Saturday, April 28 at the birthing centre at Llanidloes Hospital, Tyler took her by surprise with a marriage proposal.
“She said yes straight away and then she burst into tears,” said Tyler.
“I asked about an hour after she gave birth, I didn’t hang about. I knew I wanted to do it and I had the ring about two months, I had stashed it in the car. I’ve got a good hiding place in the spare tyre.”
Tyler and children’s nursery worker Sophie, who already have daughter Isabella who turns two at the end of this month, haven’t yet set a date for the wedding but planning is already under way.
“Sophie has downloaded an app on her ipad to look at venues so we have already started doing that.”
