A DETECTIVE from Brecon could face the sack after she was convicted of drink driving.

Amy Morgan, a detective sergeant, admitted to being behind the wheel while over the legal limit in Brecon town centre on July 28.

Brecon Law Courts heard how the 33-year-old, of Trenewydd, Llanfaes, Brecon, clipped a parked car, knocking off its wing mirror, in the Penybryn area of the town, having downed four vodka, blackcurrant and sodas barely hours earlier.

A breath test showed there to be 69 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of her breath, the legal limit is 35.

John Nutman, defending, said Morgan had been subject to 'unwanted attention' from an unnamed male and at the time of the offence feared for the safety of her then partner.

He said she drove from the pub to her partner's address and was relieved to find him safe and well.

Magistrates banned the Gwent Police CID officer from driving for 20 months and told her to pay £539.74 in fines, costs and compensation.
