St Mary’s Bakery hosted Brecon’s first ever mince pie competition this Christmas.

Participants were given until December 15th to put their homemade mince pies forward, and the competition as won by 12-year-old Daisy, with a recipe lovingly passed down from her great grandmother.

Judges for the contest included Brian Jones, founder of Castell Howell, St Mary’s Bakery’s very own Ashley Moses, and of course their valued customers.

A spokesperson for St Mary’s Bakery said: “A huge thank you to all our fabulous customers who took the time to bake and enter their delicious mince pies. We loved reading our customers’ stories behind their mince pie recipes, and the standard was incredibly high — choosing a winner was no easy task!

“A huge thanks to our judges for giving their time and expertise to make our first ever competition so special.

”We are delighted to announce our 2025 winner… Daisy, aged 12! Daisy’s mince pie stole the judges’ hearts with a recipe lovingly passed down from her great grandmother, making her entry truly special.”

Daisy received the 2025 Mince Pie Competition Trophy and was also awarded a fabulous St Mary’s Festive Hamper by Ashley.

As a thank you, St Mary’s Bakery are giving all participants a voucher to join their bakers for a very special behind-the-scenes experience at St Mary’s Bakery in the New Year.
