A 23-YEAR-OLD man from the Sennybridge area is in a serious condition in hospital after his car collided with a tree.

Dyfed Powys Police are appealing for witnesses to the single vehicle collision, which occurred at around 5.40pm on Monday January 6 on the A40 near Sennybridge.

The 23-year-old's black Honda Civic type R, car was travelling towards Sennybridge, from Brecon, when it came off the road.

The driver was taken by ambulance to the Prince Charles Hospital, in Merthyr Tydfil, following the incident and has since been transferred to the University Hospital of Wales in the Heath Cardiff, where he remains in a serious condition.

The A40 was closed from 5.44pm on Monday and didn't re-open until 12.40am on Tuesday morning.

Any witnesses to the collision are asked to contact the Mid Wales Roads Policing unit at Brecon Police Station on 101.
