INSPECTORS have praised a pre-school in Brecon for its “thoughtfully planned and extremely child centred” setting.
Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW), previously called Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales (CSSIW), gave top marks to 3 @ Cradoc which is part of Cradoc County Primary School’s early year’s department.
The report said that the staff have “warm and caring relationships” with the children who are cared for in a “safe, clean and child friendly environment.”
The inspection report, which was published last week, also praised the “wide range of good quality” educational activities and play opportunities.
During the course of the inspection, 3 @ Cradoc implemented a number of improvements including a new incident and accident system, a new risk assessment process, and completed new staff files.
They also booked staff onto a first aid training course in 2018 as well reviewing and updating their policies.
The school’s head teacher Judith Morris said: “The inspectors praised the setting highly and commented on the thoughtfully planned and extremely child-centred provision, the rich and imaginative play opportunities and how the staff consistently and successfully keep children safe and healthy.
“They stressed how parents are very happy with the setting and that their children have developed significantly through attending.
“The Governors are extremely pleased that the whole of the report is very positive, with many, many great comments.
“They would like to congratulate the setting staff Ruth Davies, Dawn Lowe, Lesley Price and Beth Roberts and thank them for their sterling work in providing a high quality, caring service.”
